KHO SAMUI
Koh Samui ("koh" in Thai means "island") is situated in the splendid Gulf of Thailand, approximately 700 Km. south of Bangkok. Samui is the largest island in an archipelago with more than 100 islands, with 247 square Km; it is the third biggest island of Thailand after Puket and Koh Chang. The climate is typically tropical with a medium temperature that oscillates from 26 degrees (October-November) to 35 degrees (April-May). The rainy season is generally in October, November and December. The best period in order to visit Samui goes from January to August. Obligatory vaccinations are not previewed.
Samui is the classic tropical paradise and the nature is the real owner of the island. It’s entirely covered from thousands of coconut palms, flowers and tropical plants of every kinds, an island all to discover and, above all is the coastline with so many beautiful beaches. Most famous and tourist developed are Chaweng beach and Lamai beach; Chaweng beach offers myriad of stores, restaurants for all tastes, pub, discotheques, bars etc., Lamai instead is the ideal for one calmer vacation made up of sun and sea, without however having to renounce to comfort and services.
You will not easy forget the colures of Samui and, above all, you will not be bored: you can jungle trekking onto elephant’s back, visit numerous waterfalls and temples, walk around the villages of fisherman with a variety of colorful markets... all living and to discover. If you get tired of Samui and you want to see more, daily excursions leave to the near island of Koh Phangan (famous for the "full moon party"), Koh Tao (diving paradise), Koh Tan (fishing tours) and the splendid Marine Park of Angthong (snorkeling). Bangkok Airways with more than twenty daily flights to and from Bangkok, guarantees an optimal and comfortable transfer to Samui; the duration of the flight is approximately one hour and twenty minutes. Samui is also connected by ferry from the province of Suratthani, the duration of the trip is approximately 1 hour and 30 min.
